The year 2021 was a challenging one with few significant musical events. Almost all notable performances have been canceled due to the pandemic and new viral types, Delta and Omicron. However, the new year ushers in many concerts and events throughout Romania!
In Europe, there is no shortage of the most popular events, which attract thousands of followers worldwide. The most anticipated events of 2022 in Romania are Untold, Neversea, Saga, Electric Castle, and Summer Well, which have already announced the musicians who will warm up the atmosphere in mid-summer.
Sting – March 15
English musician Sting will perform in March 2022 with bassist Joe Sumner, his son, in a special concert „My Songs” in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, at the BT Arena Polyvalent Hall, on March 15, 2022, starting at 19.00.
Maluma – April 8
Juan Luis Londoño Arias, known as Maluma, returns to Bucharest and has decided to embark on a world tour to promote the new album, which will end next summer. The tour will also arrive in Romania, so Maluma will return to Bucharest, on April 8, 2022, on the occasion of a more special event, which will take place in the Romexpo Central Pavilion.
SAGA Festival – July 3-5
The festival will take place at the National Arena in Bucharest, but the concert area will also include the National Park. Here, the organizers will arrange several scenes and will prepare surprises and secrets that are waiting to be revealed. More than 200 of the most acclaimed international and local artists will come in 2022. The first line-up artists announced are Afrojack, Marshmello, Timmy Trumpet, Black Coffee, Nicole Moudaber, Pan-Pot, Purple Disco Machine and Sickick.
Neversea – July 7-10
The organizers have announced the first names to be present at this festival in the coastal city of Constanța, Romania, with Alan Walker, Black Eyed Peas, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Don Diablo, Timmy Trumpet, Tujamo, W&W on the list. Moreover, the secondary scenes will host artists and DJs from the world of techno, tech-house, house, deep house, ambient, chill, electronic, dubstep, drum & bass, trap, hip-hop, rap, liquid or retro. The first artists announced for the secondary scenes are BBNO $, Borgore, Dirtyphonics, Mahony, Netsky, Priku, Raresh, Sit and Sublee B2B CAP.
Electric Castle – July 13-17
This edition is rescheduled for the summer of 2021. Thus, the tickets already purchased will be valid for the 2022 edition and the event will take place near Cluj-Napoca, city of Romania The organizers have managed to reconfirm the headliners of the festival – Gorillaz, Deftones and Twenty One Pilots. „Electric Castle is the first festival in Romania to move electronic music and live concert sounds to the indoor or outdoor stages of a castle,” said the organizers. Placebo – July 13
The British band Placebo has scheduled a concert in Bucharest on July 13, 2022. The show will take place at Romexpo, outdoors.
Untold – August 4-7
One of the largest music festivals in the world will open its doors in Romania’s city, Cluj-Napoca, in 2022. Organizers have already begun preparations for the seventh edition, which will come with new stories and characters. As in previous editions, participants will have unique experiences and enjoy various musical genres, from live acts to shows EDM, pop, house, techno, tech-house, deep house, drum & bass, dubstep, grime, hip-hop, trip-hop, trance, tribal, reggae and more.
Holzstock Festival – August 12-14
A small music festival called Holzstock takes place in the village of Hosman in the Hartibaciului Valley, a popular ecotourism destination near Sibiu.
The vicinity to the Hosman church citadel and the spectacular view of the Fagaras Mountains give this celebration a unique atmosphere. The festival’s two days are jam-packed with musical performances, work/creative seminars, sporting events, movie viewings, discussions, songs around the campfire, and the option to go on quick walks throughout the Hosman village area.

Living Rock 2022- August 19-21
Living Rock, the only alternative rock festival at sea, returns in 2022 with a new edition, which will take place between August 19-21. Balthazar, Vița de Vie, The Mono Jacks, byron, Luna Amară and many others will take the festival stage.
The Living Rock Festival aims to promote the underground scene in Romania and support artists from the alternative rock area. Built on the unique concept of combining alternative rock with the beauty of the Black Sea, the event takes place outdoors on Tuzla Beach.

IntenCity Festival- August 26-28
The Craiova Sports Complex will host the IntenCity Festival from August 26 to 28, which brings together past, present, and future music to honour those who know how to keep the summer rhythm going (Ion Oblemenco Stadium). DJ Snake, Jason Derulo, Afrojack, Luis Fonsi, Clean Bandit, and Paul van Dyk are among the performers.
Luis Fonsi, the Puerto Rican musician and composer behind „Despacito,” will give a live performance on the IntenCity stage during the festival’s opening night. The 26th of August will see a number of well-known performers from the 1980s and 1990s performing in Craiova. These artists include LayZee, alias Mr. President, Thomas Anders and the Modern Talking Band, East 17, Ricchi e Poveri, Boney M. XP, Sandra, Ice MC, La Bouche, No Mercy, DJ Conte, and La Bouche.
The ticket for one day is approximately EUR 20, and a full access ticket starts from EUR 50.
Apocalyptica- August 31
Apocalyptica performs in Cluj-Napoca on August 31 at Form Space. The event is the rescheduling of the original concert, planned for October 4, 2021, so tickets already purchased remain valid. The show will respect all the rules in force on the date of its performance.
Apocalyptica have been present on the metal scene since 1993, initially being a band that approached Metallica’s music using, however, classical instruments. However, gradually the band became a representative exponent of the Symphonic Metal style, releasing 9 studio albums to date.

David Garrett- September 1
The violinist David Garrett’s concerts, which were supposed to take place in October 2021 in Bucharest and Cluj, have been rescheduled. Thus, the artist will perform on September 1, 2022 at the BT Arena in Cluj-Napoca, as part of the „ALIVE” international tour. Tickets already purchased for the concerts in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca remain valid for the new dates, and interested persons can still buy tickets. The most affordable tockets left are about EUR 57 and you can buy it from Eventim.
Bucharest Jazz Festival- September 16-18
The 2022 edition of the Bucharest Jazz Festival will feature brand-new performances and live sessions. Bucharest Jazz Festival 2022 will take place in The Combinatul Fondului Plastic, a venue devoted to events in the arts and design field, in a first for the jazz community.
Three themed evenings make up the festival schedule. The festival’s first day is devoted to jazz musicians from the younger generation, who perform four performances with the title „Young Blood Jazz Musicians.” The „Jazz Diaspora” event features performances by jazz musicians from Romania. The festival’s final day, „Jazz Virtuoso,” features performers from Combinat on a stage devoted to regional jazz.
The edition’s lineup also features collaborations with Luiza Zan and the Radio Big Band, led by Ionel Tudor, and ZMEI3, Sorin Zlat, Ion Tuntu Baciu Jr., Trigon, Eva Maria Garlea, and Robert Cozma.
Entrance to the event is free. The Institute of the Union of Visual Artists from Romania and the Plastic Fund Combine provided assistance for the festival, which the Capital City Hall organized with the help of ARCUB and the Municipality of Bucharest’s Culture, Education, and Tourism Directorate.
Sound of Bucharest – September 24
Armin Van Buuren is planning an incredible show in Romania this September. The ‘Sound of Bucharest’ event will bring summer back on the bits of the beloved artist and will end a season of spectacular festivals in Bucharest.
The long-awaited event will be heard on September 24, 2022, in Constitution Square (Constitution Square) in Bucharest after being postponed due to the pandemic. This year, Armin Van Buuren’s music lovers will have fun together in front of the People’s House.
Bartolomey.Bittmann – October 4
BartolomeyBittman: a band that explodes with the joy of singing! No two concerts are the same for two musicians who communicate, transfigure and create so brilliantly together.
Jazz, funk and tango mix in their pieces with (very) free improvisation and shades of contemporary classical music. The vocal passages reinforce the strong instrumental presence; the sound ranges from melancholic to aggressive. The band also arrives in Romania on October 4 in Bucharest.
Nikos Vertis – October 6
Nikos Vertis, indisputably the most loved artist of Greece, returns to Romania on October 6 at Sala Palatului in Bucharest for another incredible concert. The artist, rewarded with several platinum discs for his compositions, will offer an extraordinary show of Greek music this fall in Bucharest.
