Gopo Awards 2022: ”Otto the Barbarian” and ”Malmkrog” Received the most Nominations

According to a statement from the Association for the Promotion of Romanian Film, 26 Romanian feature films released in cinemas or on VOD platforms in 2021 were considered by this year’s jury to nominate nominations for the 16th edition of the Gopo Awards.

What is Gopo?

The Gopo Awards are the national Romanian film awards, similar to the Academy Awards, the Goya Awards, or the César Award. They are presented by the Association for Romanian Film Promotion and were inaugurated in 2007.

Ten short films are in the running for the two dedicated awards this year for Best Fiction Short Film (six nominated titles) and Best Documentary Short Film (four nominated titles). In the Best European Film category, film critics from the nomination jury voted for five titles distributed in Romanian cinemas in 2021: „Adieu les cons” / „Goodbye, fools!” (directed by Albert Dupontel), „Annette” (directed by Leos Carax), „Another Round” / „Another Row” (directed by Thomas Vinterberg), „Les traducteurs” / „Traducatorii” (directed by Régis Roinsard), „Portrait de la jeune fille en feu „/” Portrait of a Flaming Woman „(directed by Céline Sciamma).
