Premeditated Actions by Kosovo

The FRF has accused the Kosovo delegation of intentionally disrupting the match, which was scoreless at 0-0 when abandoned.

Kosovo players’ decision to leave the field in stoppage time was seen as a calculated move, reflecting a lack of respect for both their opponents and the integrity of the game.

The FRF stated, „We view the claims made by the Kosovo side as baseless and strongly believe that their actions were intentional”.

Misrepresentation of Events

Romanian officials have categorically denied Kosovo’s claims of being subjected to racist chants during the match. The FRF asserted that there were no instances of racist behaviour from fans, stating, „It is crucial to highlight there were no racist chants during the match nor was the phrase ‘Kosovo is Serbia’ uttered at any point”. This denial is supported by UEFA’s previous rulings, which clarified that such slogans do not constitute racism within the context of football.

Disregard for Fair Play

The FRF expressed disappointment that Kosovo abandoned the match just two minutes before its conclusion, especially when they were not in a favourable position to win. This action was described as a „lack of respect for the sport” and an apparent disregard for the principles of fair play that football embodies. The federation emphasized that such behaviour sets a poor example for future generations and undermines the spirit of competition.

Support from Romanian Fans

In light of these events, the FRF praised the nearly 50,000 Romanian supporters who attended the match for their composed demeanour amidst provocations. The federation noted that despite attempts by Kosovo players to incite reactions from the crowd, Romanian fans largely maintained civility and restraint. This response reflects on Romanian football culture and highlights a commitment to sportsmanship.

Kosovo Football Federation Should Be Disaffiliated from UEFA

As UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings against both federations following this incident, it remains clear that Romania stands firmly behind its position regarding Kosovo’s conduct during the match. The FRF awaits a favourable outcome aligned with football’s principles, emphasizing that respect for the game must always prevail over provocative actions. The situation serves as a reminder of how critical it is for teams to uphold integrity and sportsmanship in competitive environments.

The swift goal of Belgium influenced the first half of the match played in Cologne. Belgium scored through Tielemans in 2′ after a pass from Lukaku, and Niță, the Romanian hero-goalkeeper, could not save the shot from 16 meters.

The quick goal made Belgium regain confidence after losing their first game at the Championship against Slovakia. The Belgian players had more chances to score, but Niță kept the result from min 2. On the other hand, Romania had an excellent chance to equalize through Drăgușin, but the Belgian goalkeeper saved the header.

Romania had more opportunities after the half-break. The second half saw a rapid opportunity for Man to score, but Casteels saved. Yet, Lukaku scored a second goal in 62′, but he was offside, and the Belgian striker had his third goal cancelled after a VAR review.

Hagi and Olaru entered in 67′, and immediately after that, Man had another tremendous opportunity to equalize, but the Belgian goalkeeper saved his shot.

Unfortunately for Romania, De Bruyne scored in 80′, confirming the value of this team, which is ranked third in the world after Argentina and France.

Alibec, who entered after the break, had a huge opportunity to score in 86′; his shot was too weak, and a Belgian defender deflected the ball right before entering the goal.

Following this match, all teams in Group E have 3 points, which makes the last games in the group decisive. Romania is to play against Slovakia, while Belgium plays against Ukraine.

Simona Halep’s suspension was reduced from four years to nine months, starting from October 7, 2022, which means Simona can get back to playing tennis again.

The appeal procedures before the CAS concerned two separate charges

1. a charge which arose from a prohibited substance (Roxadustat) being detected in a urine sample collected from Simona Halep on 29 August 2022 during the US Open; and

2. a charge that Ms Halep’s Athlete Biological Passport (ABP), particularly a blood sample given by Ms. Halep on 22 September 2022, established the use of a prohibited substance and/or method.

In its decision dated 22 September 2023, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Independent Tribunal found Ms Halep guilty of both Anti-doping Rule Violations (ADRV) and imposed four years of ineligibility on her.

In the appeal filed by Simona Halep at the CAS against the first instance decision, Ms. Halep requested that the sanction be reduced and be no longer than the period of the provisional suspension already served. In its separate appeal, the ITIA requested that the CAS sanction Ms Halep’s ADRVs together as one single violation based on the violation that carried the most severe sanction and the imposition of a period of ineligibility of four to six years.

The CAS appeal arbitration proceedings involved intensive pre-hearing processes and a three-day hearing on 7-9 February 2024 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The CAS Panel heard from many lay and expert witnesses, most of whom were present in person at the hearing.

The CAS Panel has unanimously determined that the four-year period of ineligibility imposed by the ITF Independent Tribunal is to be reduced to a period of ineligibility of nine (9) months starting on 7 October 2022, which period expired on 6 July 2023.

As that period expired before the appeal procedures were even lodged with the CAS, the CAS Panel has determined it appropriate to issue the operative part of the Arbitral Award as soon as practicable, together with a comprehensive media release.

The CAS Panel has also ordered the disqualification of all competitive results achieved by Ms. Halep from 29 August 2022 (the date of her positive sample) to 7 October 2022, including forfeiture of any medals, titles, ranking points and prize money. Therefore, the appeal filed by the ITIA is dismissed, and the appeal filed by Simona Halep is partially upheld (her request to backdate the start of the suspension on 29 August 2022 is dismissed).

Otherwise entirely innocent, this message has been interpreted by progressists and LGBTQ activists as transphobic.

It was a message that came after I arrived at Wimbledon, and it was a positive message. Yesterday I saw the Princess of Wales, Kate. I was highly impressed by her elegance, the elegance of the ladies here, how nicely the men are dressed, all in suits and ties, and how much discipline in the children, what innocence. It all came from my admiration of mine for this tournament and all the beautiful things I’ve seen here that this tournament has.
It was a positive message that, in general, today could be interpreted any way, but the message was a positive one, related to the elegance of this tournament. I smile when I see how beautiful the world in the stands, how beautiful they are, the spectators here and how much class there is in this tournament. Hence the inspiration for this post. So the idea behind this post was a very positive one.

Sorana Carstea explains her post after being accuses of transphobia

So, we have to admit that the critics are utterly exaggerated. If one cannot urge women to be feminine and men masculine, all the values that the leftists promote, including the freedom of speech and the freedom to all people, disregard their opinion, is fake.

People should be allowed to express their opinion, no matter what. This is what freedom of speech means. Apart from that, one contrary opinion to the other, even to the majority, doesn’t mean that opinion is right or wrong – it is just an opinion. Sorana Carstea should be left alone to express her opinions and ideas like anyone else.

This doesn’t mean that Sorana is transphobic or that Romanians are homophobic. It means just one thing: Romanian people want to have the right to express their views. This means freedom of speech. This differentiates democracy from communism, which crippled Romania for 45 years until the so-called Revolution in 1989.

Maybe the Western and the local critics yearn for the return of communism in Europe. This might be a reality someday, as this is where all this progressivism heads to. But, until then, people must have the right to express their ideas. This is the basis of any democracy in the world, and last time Sorana checked, she understood she lived in a democratic Romania and a democratic European Union.

After two days of rain, the game was played in Pristina on a difficult field. The game will begin much later than the planned hour once the referees have tested the field.

After VAR proved to the referee that one of the Kosovar players was offside upon receiving the ball, Kosovo had a goal disallowed. Despite numerous scoring chances for both teams, the score remained 0-0.

Towards the end of the game, something happened. The Kosovar government deemed the chant „Kosovo je Serbia” insulting. Therefore, authorities ordered the Romanian fans to leave the stands. One of the European nations that does not accept Kosovo is Romania.

On Monday, June 19, at 20.45 local time, Switzerland travels to face Romania in the next match.

The top two teams from each group go to the championship game, and Romania has an excellent chance to finish this season in one of the qualifying spots.

David Popovici set a new world record at the European Swimming Championship in Rome (1:42.97). Nearly two seconds after the Romanian, Antonio Djakovic of Switzerland finished in second place (1:45.60), while Felix Auboeck of Austria was on the third step of the podium (1:45.89).

At the EC swimming for juniors from Bucharest, the Romanian delegation brought home nine medals: five gold in the men’s relay 4100 m freestyle (David Popovici, Vlad Stancu, Stefan Cozma, and Patrick Sebastian Dinu); David Popovici in the 200 m, 50 m, and 100 m freestyle; Vlad Stefan Stancu at the 1,500 m freestyle; and four silver in the mixed relay 4×100.

According to Valahia News, Mary Ambree Moluh (France) and David Popovici (Romania) were named the top athletes at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Otopeni based on a score based on the greatest performances throughout the competition. David Popovici came in first place with 951 points, followed by Lorenzo Galossi of Italy and Ksawery Masiuk of Poland (897). The Romanian champion, who had already won the senior 100 m and 200 m world titles in Budapest two weeks earlier, won five medals at Otopeni, including four golds in the 50 m, 100 m, 200 m, and the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay, along with a silver in the latter competition.

Thanks to the young Romanian athletes’ outstanding accomplishments at international competitions, Romania has recently become a sensation in the world of swimming. These competitors put up a lot of effort to compete, and it paid off. Although Romania’s sports scene enjoyed a golden age, sadly, no money was spent on it. Numerous Romanian athletes lack funding for competitions as well as a place to train. Since Romanian athletes have a lot of potential and motivation, hopefully this situation will change.
